Slack Service
Slack at NC State
Slack is a collaboration hub that provides employees with dedicated, focused spaces to work with immediate teams (in workspaces) while allowing them to connect with the broader organization around projects and conversations (in channels).
Annual Renewal
Renewal is September 1 each year.
Annual Cost
Roughly $58 annually per user. This cost depends on the number of active users which may vary year to year.
Acquiring Method
New workspace requests or existing workspaces can be migrated into the grid.
Interested parties should fill out the Slack Enterprise Grid Workspace Application.
Each user is required to be a part of a paid workspace.
Each workspace is required to have:
- A primary owner and an assigned project ID to charge for all users in that workspace.
- The workspace owner is responsible for each user that becomes a part of their space. At this time there is no mechanism to pay individually without using the university finance system.
- A technical person assigned to that workspace that participates in the slack service group meetings and can understand changes being made to the system. Your local IT staff should be notified of this request as well.
- At this time, only faculty and staff can own workspaces in the grid.
- After you fill out the form, the Slack Enterprise Grid Team will contact you about onboarding and getting you set up.
